Curtailment calculator

Available vs delivered energy for one plant under a schedule of day types, with the effect on specific yield, capacity factor and revenue.

A teaching aid, not a bankable energy estimate. The preset is invented: a 12 MWdc and 10 MWac plant, an invented half-sine day shape, an invented 45 USD per MWh price. Replace every input with your own. "Available" means after inverter clipping, before the grid limit.

Presets:
ResultBefore the limitAfter the limit
Energy (MWh)--
Curtailed energy (MWh) and share of available--
Specific yield (kWh/kWp, AC energy over DC rating)--
Capacity factor, AC basis (% of MWac rating)--
Capacity factor, DC basis (% of MWdc rating)--
Energy revenue at the price entered (USD)--
Compensation received (USD) and revenue lost (USD)--
Clipped energy, not curtailment (MWh)-

Method: each day type is run hour by hour. Available power is the smaller of the plant's DC power times the efficiency and the AC rating. Inside the limit window, delivered power is the smaller of available power and the limit. Capacity factor uses 24 hours times the days entered. Compensation applies to curtailed energy above the allowance.
