Solar financial model checker

A small yield-to-equity model with debt, simplified tax and seven audit checks. Seed a mistake and see which checks flag it.

A design aid, not investment or tax advice. Nominal USD, simplified flat tax, no incentives. The starting values are the invented example on the financial modelling page. Every input is an assumption.

Presets:

Capex (USD)-
Debt (USD) and share of capex-

Audit checks

CheckResult
C1 Year-1 energy ties to size, yield and availability-
C2 Energy never rises when degradation is positive-
C3 O&M path matches an independent formula-
C4 O&M input sits in a sanity band (our invented band: 5 to 60 USD per kW dc per year)-
C5 Loan balance is zero after the last payment-
C6 Tax ties to rate times (EBITDA less depreciation less interest)-
C7 NPV at the reported equity IRR is zero-

Method: yield times availability times a degradation factor gives energy; energy times price gives revenue; EBITDA is revenue less O&M. Debt is sized so the lowest year of EBITDA divided by level debt service equals the target cover, capped at the share of capex you set. Tax is the flat rate times EBITDA less depreciation less interest, floored at zero. Cash flows fall at year ends, capex at year 0, and any year where debt service exceeds EBITDA is treated as an equity top-up. Checks C1 to C6 recompute from your inputs. A check that passes does not prove the model is right. Numbers accept 1,100,000 or 0,085 style input.
