Can this photon free an electron in my cell material?

The starting bandgap is the 1.12 eV quoted for silicon. The wavelength is an example, not a measurement. The tool uses E (eV) = 1.24 / wavelength (micrometres), so 1,240 nm is 1.00 eV. It compares the photon energy with the gap only. It does not model absorption depth, reflection or losses. Type 1200, 1,200 or 700.123; 1.12 and 1,12 are read as decimals. The tool picks the reading that falls in range.
