Solar lead generation software is software you run to create, capture and qualify your own leads. It covers door-to-door apps, website calculators, instant estimates, speed-to-lead texting (replying within minutes) and lead routing. SalesRabbit ranks first, at 63.2/100. It is a general field-sales tool with no solar-specific features. It wins on its large review base (about 1,800 user reviews and ratings) and published prices.

This page is not about buying leads. Lead marketplaces and agencies sell you leads per lead or per appointment, and they have their own ranking. See our solar lead generation companies guide. We never rank services against software.

This is a thin category: only 4 tools qualify. Our rules ask for at least five ranked products. We scored 11, but no other tool, general or solar-specific, reached the minimum score. So we rank four rather than pad the list. Three of the four are general tools sold to roofers, pest control firms and other home-services trades, and we label them as such. solarVis is the only solar-specific tool to reach our minimum match score (4 out of 10). Most solar design and CRM platforms mention lead capture. Few explain it well enough to rank on it.

How does software generate solar leads?

The four tools solve different parts of the problem. So start by deciding where your leads come from. There are three main ways.

  • Doors: Canvassing apps map territories, overlay homeowner data and log each knock. SalesRabbit leads here. Our solar canvassing apps ranking compares more of them.
  • Your website: Instant-estimate calculators and qualification journeys turn visitors into booked appointments. Demand IQ and solarVis do this. For free calculators, see free solar calculators for installers.
  • Inbound and bought leads: The job is speed and routing, which means sending each lead to the right rep so they can call within minutes. SalesExec is built for this. Once a lead is in, a CRM (software that tracks customers and sales) manages the pipeline. See solar lead management software and solar CRM.

Paid ads, email and review generation sit in our solar marketing software ranking. All of these pages live in the CRM and lead management hub.

How did we rank the best solar lead generation software?

How the score is weighted

  • Use-case fit 35%
  • User reviews 20%
  • Pricing 15%
  • Ease of use 10%
  • Support 10%
  • Momentum 10%

We scored 11 products from 22 to 24 October 2026. Four ranked, and the other 7 fell below the minimum match score. We used company pricing and feature pages, help articles, trade press and public user reviews. We did not run any tool hands-on. We scored six criteria:

  • Use-case fit (35%): How well it does this page’s job. We look for documented lead capture (website calculators, forms, canvassing), lead qualification and scoring, speed-to-lead and lead routing.
  • User reviews (20%): Ratings on G2, Capterra (both are software review websites) and app stores. Ratings based on only a few reviews count for less.
  • Pricing (15%): Published prices score higher than prices you must ask for.
  • Ease of use, support and momentum (10% each): Review sub-scores, documented support and dated releases.

A criterion with fewer than eight reviews or no evidence gets a middle score. Scores are for this page’s job, so a tool can score differently elsewhere. Products whose core facts we could not confirm on the company’s own site lose two points. SurgePV is not part of this ranking. Read the full method and how we verify pricing.

1. SalesRabbit (general field-sales tool): best for door-to-door lead generation

Best for: US residential installers running setter and closer teams on the doors. Score: 63.2/100.

What it is: SalesRabbit is a canvassing platform from SalesRabbit, Inc. It is sold to roofing, solar, pest control, telecom and other home-services teams. Reps get mapped territories, homeowner data overlays and a log of every door. We found no solar-specific features on its pricing or features pages. So it is only a fair match for this job.

Why we picked it: It is built around the doors, with mapped territories, live rep tracking and a log of every knock. Users rate it 4.5/5 on G2 from 433 reviews.

Key features:

  • Map-based canvassing and lead tracking.
  • Territory management, route planning and rep GPS tracking.
  • Appointment scheduling for setters and closers.
  • DataGrid AI homeowner data and Mover Leads (add-ons).
  • Digital contracts with mobile e-sign (add-on).
  • API (a way for apps to share data) with 60+ built-in connections to other apps. Enerflo and Solo connect to it.

Pricing: Lite is free for a single user, with limited features and no team tools. Team costs USD 59 per user per month billed monthly. Pro costs USD 49 per user per month on annual billing or USD 75 monthly. It adds custom fields, map overlays, gamification, the API and scheduler. Enterprise is quoted.

Add-ons cost USD 13 to USD 31 per user per month. They include DataGrid AI homeowner data, weather overlays, Mover Leads and digital contracts. Contracts run one to three years, and a required implementation package is not priced. Checked October 2026 on the SalesRabbit pricing page.

Pros (from user reviews):

  • New reps pick it up fast: ease of use is the most-mentioned theme on G2.
  • Managers can see reps live on the map and split territories (Capterra).
  • Door-to-door leads and follow-ups stay organised in one place (App Store).

Cons (from user reviews):

  • Bugs, freezing and crashes, especially with large datasets.
  • Support is slow for some users, and Capterra customer service scores 4.1/5.
  • One 2024 reviewer was billed quarterly on a contract they believed was monthly.

Reviews: G2 4.5/5 from 433 reviews. Capterra 4.2/5 from 191 reviews, with ease of use 4.3/5. App Store 4.5/5 from about 1,200 ratings. All checked October 2026.

2. SalesExec (general lead-management CRM): best for routing and dialling high volumes of inbound or bought leads

Best for: US solar sales teams and call centres working high lead volumes from several sources. Score: 62.8/100.

What it is: SalesExec, from ClickPoint Software, is a lead-management CRM with a dialler (a tool that calls leads one after another) for high-volume inbound and outbound teams. It has a solar-marketed edition. It does not create demand by itself. It makes sure every lead you capture or buy is scored, routed and called fast. Its sister product LeadExec serves lead sellers.

Why we picked it: It scores and routes each lead to a rep fast, which is where bought and inbound leads are won or lost. Capterra users rate its support and ease of use 4.8/5.

Key features:

  • Lead scoring on solar criteria: roof size, orientation, usage and location.
  • Distribution rules: round robin, push and pull, percentage, shotgun and recycle.
  • Inbound call routing and IVR (automated phone menus).
  • Power dialler with calling-hours and DNC (do-not-call) compliance, and local presence (showing a local caller ID).
  • SMS and email nurture sequences, plus lead-source dashboards and scoreboards.
  • Connects to Five9, Twilio, Nylas, Microsoft 365, Google and Zapier.

Pricing: Not confirmed. We could not open the company’s pricing page, linked from its solar CRM page, in October 2026. PricingSaaS recorded USD 450 per month in June 2026, with volume discounts of up to 30%. Treat that as a third-party figure. A free trial is offered, length not stated.

Pros (from Capterra reviews):

  • Easy to learn, so new callers get going fast.
  • Support is responsive and knowledgeable.
  • You can shape lead workflows and routing to fit your team, though deeper changes may need company staff.

Cons (from Capterra reviews and our research):

  • Reporting and ad hoc queries are limited.
  • Reviewers want more connections to other apps.
  • No price on a page we could open, so you must ask for a quote.

Reviews: Capterra 4.7/5 from 24 reviews, with ease of use 4.8/5 and customer service 4.8/5 (checked October 2026). G2 shows ease of use 9.7/10 from about 15 reviews, but no headline star rating.

What we could not confirm: the company’s own price. Capterra reviews span 2013 to 2026, so many predate the current version.

3. Demand IQ (general lead-capture tool): best for website instant estimates and speed-to-lead

Best for: US residential installers with steady website traffic who want visitors to self-qualify and book. Score: 60.9/100.

What it is: Demand IQ began as a solar estimator. Its legacy product, Stella, is now listed as "Stella (classic)". It is now an AI lead-capture and sales platform for all home trades, with solar as one of them. It is software, not a lead marketplace, so the leads it captures are your own.

Why we picked it: It is the only tool here with a published price for turning website visitors into booked, pre-qualified leads. G2 users rate it 4.7/5 from 19 reviews.

Key features:

  • Embeddable instant price-range estimator, about 60 seconds to complete.
  • Lead-capture journeys that qualify, quote and book.
  • AI-narrated guided presentations with open alerts.
  • AI texting that replies to new leads in under a minute (add-on), plus an AI CSR (customer service rep).
  • Canvassing app for field reps.
  • Zapier (a tool that links apps) and Google Tag Manager, with Sunlight Financial pre-qualification data via Zapier.

Pricing: Capture costs USD 495 per month. It includes instant website quotes, 5 lead-capture journeys and 500 prospects a month. You also get CRM and Zapier delivery, a canvassing app for 10 reps and AI video ads. Win costs USD 775 per month and adds 100 guided AI or rep presentations a month. Scale costs USD 995 per month and adds AI objection handling and virtual contract signing.

All plans are paid annually. The AI Texting add-on is USD 395 per month, and larger operations are quoted. White-glove setup is included. The company says monthly or quarterly terms are not guaranteed. Checked October 2026 on the Demand IQ pricing page.

Pros (from our research):

  • Website visitors get a price range in about 60 seconds and can book, so reps call warmer leads.
  • Published prices with white-glove setup included, so you can budget before a demo.
  • Active 2026 development, including new AI agents.

Cons (from our research):

  • Entry plan is USD 5,940 a year, and fast AI texting costs USD 395 a month extra.
  • Annual billing: the company says monthly or quarterly terms are not guaranteed.
  • Financing and deposits on Scale are still marked "coming soon".

Reviews: G2 4.7/5 from 19 reviews (checked October 2026).

What we could not confirm: user pros and cons (G2 review text sits behind a login), or satellite roof sizing and solar savings estimates on its current pages.

4. solarVis Sales Engine (solar-specific): best for solar calculators tied to design and proposals, outside the US

Best for: Small and mid-sized home and C&I (commercial and industrial) installers in Europe and Turkey. It suits firms wanting lead capture, design and proposals in one solar tool. Score: 53.7/100.

What it is: solarVis Sales Engine comes from solarVis, an Ankara-based company founded in 2019. It claims coverage of 45+ countries and 24 languages. We could not open solarVis’s website, so its price, trial and features are unconfirmed. Our facts come from its G2 and Software Advice listings (both written by the company) and from G2 reviews.

Why we picked it: It is the only solar-specific tool to reach our minimum match score. G2 users rate it 4.9/5, though from only 11 reviews.

Key features:

  • Branded solar calculator and landing pages for lead capture.
  • AI sales agent for lead qualification.
  • 3D and 2D roof design with AI panel placement and shading.
  • Battery, heat pump and EV charger modelling.
  • Branded proposals with online acceptance.
  • Built-in solar CRM with an 8-stage pipeline and dealer management.

Pricing: Not confirmed. Software Advice Australia lists a flat rate from EUR 1,500 with a free trial. We could not confirm this with the company. Checked October 2026 on the Software Advice listing.

Pros (from G2 reviews):

  • Remote pre-site checks cut first evaluation time by about 40%, per one reviewer.
  • Reviewers say the calculators and AI agent bring more qualified leads.
  • Proposals are clear for clients, and the company adds requested features.

Cons (from G2 reviews):

  • Satellite imagery quality varies by location.
  • Advanced settings take time to learn, and complex multi-surface roofs are hard to draw.
  • Some graphs are hard for non-technical customers, and analytics and exports are limited.

Reviews: G2 4.9/5 from 11 reviews (checked October 2026). It is a small base, and most reviewers are small businesses.

  • SPOTIO (scored 50.5/100, below the minimum match score): field-sales territories, routing and activity tracking, custom-quoted per user. A field-sales tool first.
  • OpenSolar (scored 57.7/100, below the minimum match score): a free design and proposal platform that added AI lead generation in June 2026. But lead capture is a side feature. See free solar design software.
  • Sunbase (scored 43.3/100, below the minimum match score): a solar CRM with lead and pipeline management from USD 59 per user per month. Lead generation itself is thinly documented.
  • Aurora Solar, Solargraf and Enact (scored 50.3, 35.6 and 30.0/100, no match for this job): design and proposal tools with no documented lead-capture features. See solar proposal software.
  • Lead marketplaces and agencies (EnergySage, SolarReviews, SolarQuotes and others): services, not software. See solar lead generation companies.
  • General calculator and form builders (involve.me, ConvertCalculator, Fuzen): not researched for this edition, so not scored.

How do you choose solar lead generation software?

  • If your leads come from doorknocking, pick SalesRabbit. Start a single rep on the free Lite plan before you commit a team to a contract.
  • Buying leads from several companies or running a call centre? Pick SalesExec for scoring, routing and DNC-compliant dialling. Confirm the price on a call.
  • If your website gets steady traffic but few enquiries, pick Demand IQ’s instant estimator. Budget at least USD 5,940 a year.
  • Selling in Europe or Turkey and want calculators, design and proposals from one solar company? Shortlist solarVis and ask for written pricing.
  • If you need leads delivered rather than tools to create them, read our lead generation companies guide instead.
  • If your problem is follow-up after capture, a CRM will help more than another lead tool. See solar CRM.

Solar lead generation software FAQs

What is the best solar lead generation software?

SalesRabbit is the best for door-to-door teams, with the top score of 63.2/100 in our October 2026 ranking. SalesExec (62.8) is best for routing and dialling inbound or bought leads. Demand IQ (60.9) is best for website lead capture. solarVis is the only solar-specific tool to qualify.

How much does solar lead generation software cost?

SalesRabbit has a free single-user plan and paid seats from USD 49 per user per month on annual billing. Demand IQ starts at USD 495 per month, paid annually, and AI texting costs USD 395 a month extra. We could not confirm prices for SalesExec or solarVis. Checked October 2026.

Can solar lead generation software replace a CRM?

Usually not. SalesExec is a lead-management CRM in its own right, and solarVis includes a solar CRM with an 8-stage pipeline. SalesRabbit and Demand IQ pass leads to a CRM through connections and Zapier. For project tracking after the sale, compare our solar CRM ranking.

How does AI improve solar lead generation?

AI mainly helps with speed and lead qualification. Demand IQ’s AI texting add-on replies to new leads in under a minute. solarVis uses an AI sales agent to qualify leads. These are company descriptions checked in October 2026. We found no independent measure of their effect on close rates.

What is the average close rate for solar leads?

We have not found an independent, citable figure, so we do not quote one. Close rates vary widely by lead source, so track your own. SalesExec’s lead-source dashboards report results by source. SalesRabbit includes Amplify Analytics from its Team plan (checked October 2026).

Do solar savings calculators on installer websites generate better leads?

Possibly, but we found no controlled comparison of lead quality. Calculators catch visitors who would otherwise leave and qualify them before a rep calls. Demand IQ’s estimator takes about 60 seconds and books appointments. solarVis reviewers on G2 report more qualified leads from its calculators (checked October 2026).
