7 Best Software Tools for Solar and Roofing Companies

How we research

The short answer: HOVER is the best software for solar and roofing companies in our ranking, at 72.0/100. One set of phone photos gives a 3D roof model both teams can quote from. For one CRM, pick AccuLynx if roofing comes first, or Sunbase (from USD 59 per user per month) if solar comes first.

Software for solar and roofing companies helps one business quote, sell and run both trades. HOVER ranks first on this list, at 72.0/100, for measuring roofs for reroof and solar quotes. Few tools do both trades well, and they fall into two groups.

Roofing-first tools (HOVER, AccuLynx, Zuper, JobNimbus) are mature and well reviewed. In them, solar is just another trade, with no design, shading or grid features.

Solar-first platforms (Sunbase, Solo, Coperniq) have the solar features and say they serve roofers too. They have few public reviews and thin roofing docs. Most firms that run both trades end up with a roofing CRM (software that tracks customers and sales) plus a separate solar design tool.

Roof measurement: HOVER

Measuring is the one job where roofing and solar teams can share a tool. HOVER exports to ESX (the Xactimate estimate format), Excel and JSON. That suits the reroof quote.

For solar values such as azimuth and TSRF (total solar resource fraction), EagleView’s Inform Advanced report covers both trades. It costs USD 75 to 79 a residential roof, in select US states. Our solar roof measurement software ranking compares ten options, with Aurora Solar first.

Solar design and proposals: Solo

Solo is the only ranked tool here that shows AI solar design, shading and a lender marketplace. It also lists a roofing Studio. The roofing-first CRMs here show no solar design.

For a design tool on its own, Pylon ranks first in our solar design and proposal software ranking. All design tools are in the design and simulation category.

CRM and sales: AccuLynx or Sunbase

Pick by core trade. AccuLynx and JobNimbus are built around roofing jobs, supplier orders and aerial measurement orders. Sunbase is a solar CRM with door-to-door tools that also sells to roofers.

For a dedicated solar CRM, Payaca ranks first in our solar CRM ranking. SalesRabbit ranks first for canvassing apps. More tools are in the CRM and lead management category.

Operations and field service: Zuper or Coperniq

Zuper runs dispatch, inspections and proposals for mixed crews, and links to EagleView, HOVER and GAF QuickMeasure. Coperniq tracks solar phases from survey to PTO (permission to operate). It serves other trades too.

Among solar-specific tools, Coperniq leads solar project management and Scoop Solar leads solar field service management. Also see the operations category.

How did we rank software for solar and roofing companies?

How the score is weighted

  • Use-case fit 35%
  • User reviews 20%
  • Pricing 15%
  • Ease of use 10%
  • Support 10%
  • Momentum 10%

We scored 13 products and ranked the top 7. We did the work from 22 to 25 October 2026. We used company docs, pricing pages, help centres and public user reviews. This was desk research. We ran no jobs in any tool. We use six criteria.

  • Use-case fit (35%): How much of a joint solar and roofing workflow a tool covers with shown features. That means measuring, solar design, estimates, CRM, scheduling and field work. Single-job tools score low here by design.
  • User reviews (20%): G2, Capterra and app-store ratings. Ratings from only a few reviews count for less. No public reviews means a middle score of 5 out of 10.
  • Pricing transparency (15%): Published prices score above quote-only or unverified prices.
  • Ease of use, support and product momentum (10% each): Review sub-scores and dated releases. Each gets a middle score without evidence.

Scores are set per page, so a tool can score differently elsewhere. Eight reached our minimum match score (4 out of 10), and we rank the top 7. The eighth, SubcontractorHub, is in Also considered with five single-job tools. Because this category is mixed by nature, we rank roofing and field-service tools with solar tools and label them general. SurgePV is not part of this ranking. Read the full method: how we score software.

1. HOVER (general exterior measurement app): best for measuring roofs for reroof and solar quotes

Best for: Firms that quote roofing and solar on the same homes and want one measurement per visit. Score: 72.0/100.

What it is: HOVER turns phone photos into a measured 3D model of a home. Hover Inc. makes it for roofing, siding and exterior contractors. It is not solar software. We could not confirm solar outputs such as azimuth or shade.

Why we picked it: Measuring is the one job both trades share, and HOVER does it from phone photos at a published per-roof price. Reviewers give it top marks for ease of use and support.

Key features:

  • Roof, siding, window and interior measurements.
  • Estimates and proposals with e-signature.
  • Exports to PDF, ESX, Excel, JSON and XML.
  • 3D design visualiser with real product brands.
  • CRM sync on Pro and above, with connections to AccuLynx, JobNimbus, ServiceTitan, CompanyCam and Beacon PRO+.

Pricing: Starter is pay per project. Roof only costs USD 29, 49 or 69 (simple, average, complex), and full exterior costs USD 59 to 139. Your first 3 projects are free. Pro costs USD 999 per year, cuts USD 20 off each project and adds CRM sync. Business costs USD 2,999 per year with a flat USD 39 per roof. Enterprise is quote only. Checked October 2026 on the HOVER pricing page.

Pros (from user reviews): From Capterra reviews.

  • Very easy to use, and keeps projects organised.
  • Fast, accurate exterior measurements save a ladder trip.
  • 3D models help you close home sales.

Cons (from reviews and our research): The first two come from Capterra and App Store reviews.

  • Pricey for occasional users.
  • The app can be buggy, and uploads glitch on poor signal.
  • No solar design, scheduling or field management.

Reviews: Capterra 4.8/5 (60 reviews) and App Store 4.4/5 (3,100 ratings), checked October 2026. Capterra rates ease of use 4.9 and customer service 4.8.

2. AccuLynx (general roofing CRM): best for roofing-first contractors adding solar as a trade

Best for: US roofing contractors with a settled roofing workflow who now sell some solar. Score: 62.7/100.

What it is: AccuLynx is a roofing-first CRM and job tool from Madison, Wisconsin. US roofing and exterior contractors use it for leads, estimates, production, invoicing and job costing. You can track solar as an extra trade, but it has no solar design tools.

Why we picked it: It runs a whole roofing job, from leads and measurement orders to production, invoicing and job costing. Capterra reviewers rate it 4.6/5 from 847 reviews.

Key features:

  • Leads with AI lead scoring.
  • Estimates, contracts, a production calendar, and mobile field and crew apps.
  • Aerial roof measurement ordering and supplier direct ordering.
  • Job costing, profit forecasting and P&L (profit and loss).
  • Permits tracking, commissions, supplement tracking and multi-location on Elite.

Pricing: Quote only, with Pro and Elite plans billed monthly and no contract. Paid add-ons include a customer portal, AccuPay payments, texting, a crew app and API (a way for other software to connect) access. Checked October 2026 on the AccuLynx plan options page.

Pros (from user reviews): From Capterra reviews.

  • Easy to learn, even for staff new to CRM.
  • Documents, photos, payments and messages sit on each job, so nothing gets lost.
  • Fast, helpful support and training.

Cons (from reviews and our research): The first two come from Capterra reviews.

  • Add-ons cost extra, and the base price is high for small firms.
  • The mobile photo viewer resets, and search needs exact spelling.
  • No solar design or proposals.

Reviews: Capterra 4.6/5 (847 reviews) and G2 4.4/5 (count not shown), checked October 2026. Capterra rates customer service 4.6.

3. Zuper (general field service tool): best for dispatching mixed roofing and solar crews

Best for: Mid-sized and larger US contractors running several roofing and solar crews. Score: 61.1/100.

What it is: Zuper is a field service tool from Zuper Inc. in Seattle. It is sold mainly to roofers. It has a solar page, but we found no solar features. The testimonials on that page are from roofers.

Why we picked it: Its dispatch board, offline app and links to EagleView and HOVER suit firms that run mixed crews. Its G2 rating (4.7/5 from 152 reviews) is the highest among the ranked tools.

Key features:

  • Dispatch board with live crew locations.
  • On-site inspections that build proposals with pricing tiers and financing.
  • Offline mobile app with checklists and photos.
  • Measurement links to EagleView, HOVER, RoofScope and GAF QuickMeasure.
  • Accounting sync with QuickBooks, Xero and Sage Intacct, and CRM sync with HubSpot, Salesforce and Zoho.

Pricing: Quote only, with demo-led sales. Checked October 2026 on the Zuper solar page.

Pros (from user reviews): From Capterra reviews.

  • Techs get work orders and customer details on site.
  • Connects smoothly with CRMs such as HubSpot.
  • Makes delivery and install jobs easy to schedule.

Cons (from reviews and our research): The first two come from Capterra reviews.

  • New users face a learning curve, and reports are hard to customise.
  • The mobile app has occasional bugs and crashes.
  • No solar design or permitting.

Reviews: G2 4.7/5 (152 reviews) and Capterra 4.5/5 (56 reviews), checked October 2026.

4. JobNimbus (general contractor CRM): best for small roofing teams that want a trial first

Best for: Roofing and exterior contractors of up to 19 users who also sell solar. Score: 58.2/100.

What it is: JobNimbus is a contractor CRM and job app from Lehi, Utah. It is built mainly for roofing and exterior trades. Solar is a listed industry, but we found no solar tools.

Why we picked it: It is the only ranked CRM you can try on your own, with a 14-day trial and no card. Supplier ordering and 650 public reviews make it a safe roofing-side choice.

Key features:

  • Leads and custom CRM boards and job statuses.
  • Estimates, e-sign, invoicing, payments and financing, plus a mobile app.
  • Automations capped by tier (10, 30 or 100 a month).
  • Supplier ordering with ABC Supply, SRS and QXO.
  • Integrations with CompanyCam, EagleView, QuickBooks Online and Sunlight Financial.

Pricing: Quote only. Tiers are Essentials (up to 3 users), Pro (10), Premium (19) and Enterprise (20+), billed monthly or annually. There is a 14-day free trial with no card and no setup fee. Checked October 2026 on the JobNimbus pricing page.

Pros (from user reviews): From Capterra reviews.

  • Easy to learn, so new staff are quick to train.
  • Jobs, contracts, photos, invoices and scheduling sit in one place.
  • Custom statuses and estimate templates, and good value.

Cons (from reviews and our research): The first two come from Capterra reviews.

  • Glitches, slowdowns and outages. One user lost unsaved estimate work.
  • Email has no CC, BCC or preview, reports are thin and support is uneven.
  • No solar design tools.

Reviews: Capterra 4.6/5 (482 reviews) and G2 4.5/5 (168 reviews), checked October 2026.

5. Sunbase: best for solar-first companies adding roofing

Best for: Small and mid-sized US solar installers who also take roofing work and want one modular CRM. Score: 55.5/100.

What it is: Sunbase is a modular CRM and contractor suite for home solar, from Sunbase Data. It also sells to roofing and building contractors. We found no roofing features such as measurement orders.

Why we picked it: It ties HOVER for the top fit score here, because it is the only ranked CRM with built-in solar design and shading. It ranks fifth because it has just one user review.

Key features:

  • Solar CRM with lead and sales pipeline.
  • Door-to-door territory and rep tracking (per the company’s blog).
  • Proposals, estimates and e-sign contracts.
  • Built-in solar design with shading and production estimates.
  • Project management, inventory and asset management, and reporting.

Pricing: From USD 59 per user per month. The final quote depends on users, modules, workflows and onboarding. The company’s design page says there is no long-term contract. Checked October 2026 on the Sunbase pricing page.

Pros (from reviews and our research): The first comes from a Capterra review.

  • Automated emails and tasks save time on projects.
  • You can see the entry price before a sales call, unlike the roofing CRMs above.
  • Solar design and CRM come from one company, so there is less to connect.

Cons (from reviews and our research): The first comes from the same Capterra review.

  • Setup is hard for admins without technical skills.
  • No roofing features such as measurement orders.
  • Only one user review to judge it on.

Reviews: Capterra 4.0/5 (1 review), checked October 2026. The G2 listing shows no rating. That is too few to rely on.

What we could not confirm: whether there is a free trial, and which tools it integrates with.

6. Solo: best for solar sales orgs adding roofing proposals

Best for: US home solar dealers and installers whose reps sell more than one trade. Score: 54.9/100.

What it is: Solo is an AI-assisted design, proposal and finance tool from Lehi, Utah. Most users are US home solar sales teams. It now lists roofing, HVAC and generator Studios. We could not confirm that roofing proposals are live for all users yet.

Why we picked it: It is the only ranked tool with AI solar design, a lender marketplace and a roofing Studio in one product. Dated monthly release notes show steady work on it.

Key features:

  • AI roof edge and obstruction detection, with setbacks and a layout in under 5 minutes (a figure from the company).
  • Shading and performance modelling.
  • Proposals with pricing and adders.
  • Lender marketplace, including GoodLeap, Sungage and LightReach.
  • Lender, utility and AHJ (your local permit office) validation checks.
  • CRM through integrations, including JobNimbus, SalesRabbit and SPOTIO.

Pricing: Quote only, with "flexible options based on usage, support level, and scale". Unlimited users and concierge onboarding are included. Checked October 2026 on the Solo pricing page.

Pros (from reviews and our research): The last comes from one Capterra India review (December 2025).

  • Monthly releases keep adding features, such as the April 2026 Studio workflow and ground mounts.
  • It connects to roofing CRMs such as JobNimbus.
  • New reps are easy to train.

Cons (from reviews and our research): The last comes from the same review.

  • No published prices.
  • Its lenders and utilities are US only.
  • Reps can change too many settings, which makes quality control hard.

Reviews: G2 4.6/5 (12 reviews), checked October 2026. The review text is behind a login.

7. Coperniq: best for solar installs and service alongside other trades

Best for: Small and mid-sized US and Canadian contractors that run solar, storage and other trades’ jobs and service in one system. Score: 50.5/100.

What it is: Coperniq is an operations tool from Coperniq Inc., a US start-up. It has CRM, project workflows, dispatch, O&M (operation and maintenance) and a homeowner portal. It is built for solar and storage and sold to other trades. We found no roofing features.

Why we picked it: It tracks every solar phase through PTO and then runs service work, with published per-user prices. It made the list on fit, as it has no public reviews yet.

Key features:

  • CRM and phase workflows: survey, design, permit, install, inspection and PTO.
  • Scheduling and dispatch with route optimisation.
  • Offline iOS and Android app with forms and GPS photos.
  • O&M work orders, maintenance memberships and spare-parts inventory.
  • Homeowner portal, plus inverter and panel alerts.
  • AI voice agent for customer calls.

Pricing: Field costs USD 90 per user per month and Office costs USD 200 per user per month. AI and add-ons are priced separately. Checked October 2026 on the Coperniq pricing page.

Pros (from our research):

  • You can budget per seat from published prices.
  • Every solar phase, through PTO, sits on one record.
  • The same system runs service work after install.

Cons (from our research):

  • No public user reviews to judge it on.
  • No roofing measurement or supplier ordering.
  • AI and add-ons cost extra on top of the per-user price.

Reviews: No user reviews found as of October 2026. G2 and Capterra show no ratings.

What we could not confirm: which tools it integrates with, and whether inverter alerts are native or need an integration.

Also considered

  • SubcontractorHub (scored 44.2/100): a sales and project tool for US solar dealers, also sold to roofing and HVAC firms. It ranks eighth. We could not confirm its core facts or pricing on the company site, and it has no user reviews.
  • CompanyCam (a weak match here): a photo app used by both trades, from USD 63 a month. It integrates with JobNimbus, AccuLynx and HOVER. It scores well in total but covers one job. It ranks first in our site survey apps ranking.
  • EagleView (below the minimum score): per-roof reports that serve both trades, with TSRF values on Inform Advanced. It covers measurement only.
  • SalesRabbit (a poor match for this job): a general door-to-door canvassing app with a free single-user Lite plan. Its separate RoofLink Pro, a roofing CRM, costs USD 120 per user per month.
  • SPOTIO (a poor match for this job): general field-sales canvassing. It is quote only and sold to teams rather than single reps.
  • Nearmap (below the minimum score): an aerial imagery subscription rather than contractor software.
  • GAF QuickMeasure and RoofSnap: roofing-only measurement tools with no solar outputs, covered on our roof measurement page. Roofr was not scored because it has no solar features.

How do you choose software for a solar and roofing company?

  • If roofing is most of your revenue, start with AccuLynx or JobNimbus for the CRM. Pair it with a tool from our solar design software ranking.
  • If solar is most of your revenue, start with Sunbase or a CRM from our small-business solar CRM ranking. Then buy roofing measurements per roof.
  • If you run several crews and dispatch is the hold-up, pick Zuper. See also our scheduling and dispatch tools.
  • If you sell solar first and want roofing proposals, ask Solo if its roofing Studio is live.
  • To try before you talk to sales, start with JobNimbus (14 days, no card) or HOVER (3 free projects). They are the only ranked tools with a self-serve start.
  • If accounting sync matters, Zuper and JobNimbus list QuickBooks. See our solar accounting software page.
  • For one solar-only system, see all-in-one solar software and our best solar software overview.

Solar and roofing software FAQs

What makes roofing contractor software different from a general CRM?

Roofing software is built around the job, not just the contact. AccuLynx, for example, adds aerial measurement ordering, supplier direct ordering, production calendars, job costing and supplement tracking. JobNimbus and Zuper connect to suppliers such as ABC Supply, SRS and QXO (checked October 2026).

Can one CRM handle both solar and roofing jobs?

For pipeline and job tracking, yes. For solar design, no. AccuLynx tracks solar as a trade, and JobNimbus lists it as an industry, but neither documents solar design tools. Sunbase is a solar CRM with built-in design that sells to roofers, from USD 59 per user per month (October 2026).

Does roofing and solar contractor software integrate with QuickBooks?

Several do. As of October 2026, JobNimbus syncs with QuickBooks Online, and Zuper syncs with QuickBooks, Xero and Sage Intacct. CompanyCam lists QuickBooks Online. We did not find QuickBooks documented for AccuLynx, Sunbase, Solo, Coperniq or SubcontractorHub (also considered) on the pages we checked.

Can field crews use the software offline?

Some apps say so. Zuper’s mobile app works offline with checklists and photos. Coperniq’s iOS and Android app has offline forms and GPS photos. CompanyCam captures offline and syncs later (checked October 2026). Other tools did not state offline use, so test it in a trial or demo.

How long does implementation take for contractor software?

No company here publishes a timeline. Solo includes concierge onboarding in its pricing. JobNimbus says no setup fee is required and sells optional onboarding. SalesRabbit requires an unpriced setup package (checked October 2026). Ask for a written onboarding plan before you sign.

Which roof measurement reports work for both reroofing and solar design?
